Short bio (60 words)

Ignacio López Martín is an industrial engineer and serial founder. He co-founded Cable Energía, acquired by Shell and later by Acciona. He chairs Capflex Energía, which develops and sells battery storage projects in Spain. Through Vida Sustainable Ventures, his venture builder in Seville, he has co-founded Eolinet Renovables and The Seafolk.

Long bio

Ignacio López Martín builds companies out of assets that spend most of their time idle: car parks, grid nodes, wind turbines and moored boats.

An industrial engineer, before starting his first company he set out on his sailboat, Vida, to sail around the world. He shelved that dream to return to Spain and co-found Cable Energía in 2019 with Jesús Nieto, a fast-charging network for electric vehicles in Spain and Portugal. Grupo Cuerva took a majority stake in 2021, Shell acquired it in 2022 and Acciona bought it from Shell in 2025: one company, two industrial buyers. He led it through the Shell integration until the end of 2023.

Today he works from the boardroom. He chairs Capflex Energía, which develops and sells battery storage projects in Spain, and Supercubo. Through Vida Sustainable Ventures, his venture builder in Seville, he starts companies and puts professional teams in place: that is how he co-founded Eolinet Renovables, which cleans and inspects wind turbines with drones from the ground for major utilities and manufacturers, and The Seafolk, with Soco Núñez de Cela, a club where owners exchange their boats instead of leaving them moored. He is also a co-founder of Venlo Energy, an independent power producer.

He writes on energy storage, the grid and the power market for Energy-Storage.News and El Español, and has been interviewed by El Periódico de la Energía, Energía Estratégica and El Español-Invertia. He also sits on boards as independent director or chairman and advises investors in renewables, storage and infrastructure.
